What's Next?

I've changed my perspective on life. I'm exploring my theme of celebrating Nature from a new viewpoint. Panoramas have given way to intimate studies of Eucalypt tree trunks drawn in charcoal. Viewed in isolation, their folds and insect patterns take on the monumental qualities of a landscape, but with an eerie feel to the illusion. The familiar becomes unfamiliar - Ansel Adams meets Yves Tanguy. Etchings and mezzotints come to mind.

Wearing my other hat as a painter restorer, I repaired a 9 x 1 cm rip in an oil landscape on canvas for the Fleurieu Bignnale. The painstaking application of 14 layers of Gesso and careful colour matching were rewarded when the Courier newspaper remarked " I believe this painting has been restored somewhere - where??".

Recently I bridged a 20 year gap by returning to my major discipline, sculpture. A large fiberglass dragon's head and tail for the 40' dragon boat "Vicki's Pride" resulted. Hand painting it in a rainbow of glossy automotive enamels was a challenge and a half.

I continue to enjoy sharing my skills and experience with students and adults in critiques and demonstrations. These private, occassional lessons often lead to rapid progress. I have over 35 years of artmaking and teaching at adult and adolescent level for you to tap into.
